There has been a huge disconnect between the academic and practical applications of research. Oftentimes, models which are efficacious in laboratories do not have any practical significance on the ground. Even after spending humungous amounts of resources, it has been observed that these experiments do not achieve their intended purpose. The spectrum of challenges faced in this area has been dealt with by an emerging field that attempts to bridge this dividing gap and it is called Implementation Science. This contemporary branch evades the concept of working in silos and takes into consideration a few key questions well in advance- like “what shall work”, “for whom will it be effective”, and “under what circumstances”. Aspects such as scalability and replicability of proposed models are kept in mind while such projects are still in conception. (1) Health Care systems are frequently complex in design having a wider context of policies, the interest of policymakers, funding and time available, involvement of multiple sectors like public, private, and social groups, healthcare infrastructure, logistics, level of development of the country, education, cultural beliefs and geography of population, etc. Under a plethora of such varying and diverse circumstances, when an innovation is put out in the field for a test to be used by an individual, implementation science not only looks current researcher’s perspective but also sustains that intervention. (2) There are various dissemination and implementation models available to help look at any project from the lens of implementation. It is one of the most effective ways to increase penetration, fidelity, adoption, and sustainability in macro and micro contexts.
